Final day for campaigning.
Remember how we all read about a 89 year old grandma, Maimun binti Yusuf or more fondly known as Tok Mun an independent candidate for P.036 Kuala Terengganu, who has probably gained more international coverage than most politicians. She has given inspiration to many “fighting for the country’s sake … to improve conditions for poor people.” Just a rural clothing saleswoman with little political experience, Tok Mun simply just wants to want to help create better education and better opportunities for people so that they can have a better life.
Imagine my surprise today as I read The Star online and saw none other than my old friend Brian Ong & two of his friends, who have travelled all the way from KL to help out with her campaigning after reading about her in the papers. Read here for her news coverage as at March 7, 2008.
She has definitely given inspiration to all the young and old alike out there. Lesson learnt – You’re never too old to do anything or make any significant contribution to community.
