Happy Wesak Day everyone!

The long weekend can be helluva boring if you have no concrete plans in mind.

I got back from Ipoh – vowed to have an alcohol-less weekend to detox and I have succeeded!

Went to watch Narnia over the weekend with the boys.  All I can say is that except for Prince Caspian, Ben Barnes who’s absolutely a hottie ( just about the only thing worth looking at), I must admit, I was slightly disappointed with the movie. The first one was way better!

Finished another Postsecret book I bought from amazon.com.

Just spent almost RM200 on some office clothes this morning at Nichii, as I was outgrowing some of my old ones..sigh.  There goes my saving for my upcoming Hong Kong trip.  I just have no willpower.

Did some yoga, some reading for the upcoming CISA exam, caught up with the girls at Starbucks where they were chatting excitedly about their upcoming weddings and the usual bitching and finally managed to use the office’s laptop to listen to the CDs from ‘fei jai’ since all my other listening devices have crashed.  Also managed to complete some episodes of the two new TVB series.

I guess I’ll have to look forward to this coming weekend…

Angeline, Wely, Sass-O, Quotation Boy Kelvin, Mama are all coming to KL….hope we’ll have a blast then!  Joanna and myself plan to have a ‘no drunk no going home’ night when we meet up with the girls this coming Friday.  Hopefully anttyk does not aeroplane for Bak Kut Teh morning – craving for that!  And of course Gossip Girl season finale comes on tonight! XoXo…I know I love it.  Can’t believe Laura’s other half is into it as well!

Sh*t As* Day May 16, 2008

This post is about negativity.

What happened?

1) Of my 4 years working, this has got to be the most, and yes, the shittiest day I had ever.  It’s not an exaggeration.

2) At the bar last night in Ipoh, coming out from the bathroom, my drunk acquaintance was coming into the toilet.  and ‘BANG’ there goes my poor finger!  Swelled like nobody’s business today

3) 肥仔 (‘fei jai’) bought me 7 CDs today with my favourite songs.  I can’t listen to them yet cause obviously my stupid car player has not been fixed and even my laptop Cd-rom its not being itself.  Can’t detect any CD’s AT ALL!!!

4) And u know what’s the worst of the lot?  I went to the local mamak for supper.  Of course I asked for my favourite ‘papadums’ which is a MUST.  ‘Sorry..u know all our papadums come from India right?  We have a few suppliers that said there would be no papadums stock for at least 6 months….!’ WTF…it’s months ok not DAYS!  This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I heard all day.  Did papadum makers go on a strike in India asking for a payrise or cease production? is there a papadum union?

5) Frank, my Chinese friend in Shanghai, updated me on the earth quake situation and death toll in China.  It’s really sadenning to think that here we are worrying about financial, relationships..but at least an entire generation of ppl have been wiped out there.  My heart goes out to them.

Well, I did one good thing today.  I donated some money to the Myanmar flood victims through UNICEF.

Ipoh night life! May 14, 2008

Last night Yellow Chimp, Alex and myself went for dinner in Frens Corner.  I have been hassling them to go there before they came up from KL for job – I tried the place last week and loved it since.  Finally, after many wrong turns and directions from Ipohreans, we managed to locate this place, known for it’s icy cold ’shuet far’ beer and cheap & tasty food.  Don’t ask me the road name- we just circled around the padang with the second biggest flag in Malaysia and found the place.

Don’t know how they do it – even Yellow Chimp aka Danielpedia was scratching his head.  They must have chilled the beer to the temperature just below freezing to get this effect.  Note: KC KC a.k.a. big eyed boy, you must find out how to get to this place la.  Ipoh people always bring KL ppl try one wor! Tsk tsk…shame on u! Ha ha you only know how to recommend your friends to try a ‘kedai kopi’ that has already sold out all their food by lunch.

The stir fry intestines with shrimp is a MUST to try.  Sounds gross but you’d still have to try.  Alex, I think enjoyed it as much as I did! The aroma of the shrimps, which is done in a spicy way..Blisssssss…

The ‘pak cheok’ squid is another one of my favourites…

Apart from the finger foods to go with beer, the rice dishes were only so-so.

A place worth trying – but not for the alcoholics as they’ll probably find the beer a bit too light for their liking.  Bill came up to about RM70 (incl’ RM 15 for beer).  Not too bad! Woo and I only had one glass of beer for dinner.  Uncle will be so proud of me ’cause I am not turning out like him! Ha ha ha

We went to watch Ironman at Ipoh Parade after dinner.  I was truly surprised that the movie was not bad considering I had no intention to watch another superhero movie and was dragged there by Yellow Chimp! Apart from the movie which I would probably rate a 7, the experience of watching a movie in GSC in Ipoh is totally different from KL..

1) The seats were damn smelly..even Mid Valley GSC’s seat don’t smell as bad.

2) We got warning from our Ipoh friends that the seats are fleas infested..but thank god we did not get bitten

3) Three ah bengs sat behind us, commenting on the movie so loudly I almost could have given them a loudspeaker and occasionally their mobile would ring…those ‘feng tau’ music.  I think they never watch the Digiman ad and the consequences of speaking loudly on your mobile.

4) Over at the other end, another group of weird asses would suddenly burst out in laughter at scenes we thought were totally not unfunny….or could it just be us without the sense of humour

My friends here are more alcoholic than 10 ’shaun-not- alcoholic’ or Sean put together! Ha ha

Last night again we went to a bar cum karaoke cum pool place, Zenzos Senzos…something like that…

I managed to record the last 30 seconds of Ipoh Idol Wannabe  singing ( I spent the other 3 minutes laughing so hard)….almost asked the guy to shut the f*** up for ENCORE!

Fish Spa May 10, 2008

I can’t believe Kevin went to try the Fish Spa without me!

So today, considering I had only 1 full day before driving back to Ipoh for another dreary week, I dragged Kev to the Kenko’s Fish Spa at Pavillion – first time for me.  NicB who was supposed to join had to send his Vios for a major service.

There has been much hype and publicity on these Dr Fish and fish spa for the past few months, I guess there won’t be much explanation required on what these fish spas do.  So I’ll cut the story short and straight post the pictures (if u have never heard of it, just google la!).

Because mama said that there maybe a line, we decided to be kiasu and arrive at the spa at 12 sharp.

The entrance to the spa

Ok, so some people were already there!

Wash your feet before u let the fish feed on your dead skin

On your mark, get set, dip your foot in!

Wahahahahha so bloody ticklish

Fuiyoh! After 1/2 hour and RM 38 bucks well spent, look at my foot – minus the dead skin.  Can’t believe I had so much more fish biting me compared to Kev or the other lady beside me.

Just before we left, we decided to get vouchers for my mom. dad and his aunt. The lady persuaded us to the 10 vouchers for only RM300 and we could even offset with today’s treatment!  So, that would make today’s treatment free! Wahhhhhh…

Me: Err yeah

Store Employee: Sorry ah, we want to tell you that your IPOD hard disk crash.  We tried diff cables, different computers.  Cannot fix-lah.  We tried to turn on also cannot.

Me: So now how?  Really cannot fix?  Have to buy new one?

Store Employee: I think better you buy new one cause your hard disk crash already.  You can come back to our shop anytime to take back your ipod for remembrance lah.

Damn!

**CLARIFICATION

Jimmy has been getting birthday wishes since last night.

I received some sms-es also enquiring if his birthday is today.

I think my previous post is misleading!

His birthday is 3 days from yesterday’s post – which ultimately falls on May 8.  Not 3 days from our dinner!

The blogger apologizes for any inconvenience caused…….

Jimmy’s Birthday Celebration May 5, 2008

Jimmy’s birthday is in 3 days time.  But we had an early celebration for him last Saturday.

Sue Ann, birthday boy and me went to El Cerdo’s for a feast of pork, pork and pork.

It has got to be one of the most scrumptious pork feast ever (Sooyin, better than Checkers i reckon!). I totally loved the smoked ham with rockmelon as appetizer -never ever tasted anything as good before (ok..maybe that’s a wee bit exaggerating). And the dessert is absolutely fantabulous! But it was a pity we could not try the suckling pig.  I found it really strange that other customers were cutting the pig with their small ceramic plates and throwing them into this bucket to break them, apparently for good luck (an Italian tradition).

We moved on the Vintage Bank in KL Hilton to meet up with some other friends.

Here’s Jimmy cutting his first birthday cake for the year.  Green Tea cake from San Terri.

Haha ok..it’s me in case you noticed.  I pulled the orange ribbon out from the cake’s deco and tied it to his neck!

Whoa….I don’t realize that I still had enough stamina to proceed to Zeta Bar after that!

And the highlight of the night, I reckon was not Jimmy’s birthday celebration…..it was his love interest of the night….ms. looks-so-hot-in-leopard-prints-chic.

Have a great birthday this year! My regards from Ipoh! :)
