Isn’t Malaysian Airlines, our national carrier, a total disgrace? June 21, 2008

I have already been having a throbbing headahce for 2 days.  3 Panadol Rapid.  My body feels like it is trapped in flames.  Had 4 Strepsils – the blue coloured super strong ones.  That still did not help.  Cut short my outing today because I feel totally weak and it obviously does not help that I am going off to Jakarta tomorrow for a week.  Pray that a fever does not follow suit.  Imagine how further heated I am after making to 1300 88 3000 – the toll free line for Malaysian Airlines and Enrich.

Remember my Brisbane trip in March this year?  A little recap.  It was a total bitch.  On March 21, I upgraded to Business class paying AUD950 (to accompany my mom on the flight) and came back with MH 140 from Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur.  The damn flight delayed 13 hours.  The system at the airport crashed.  Because mom and myself rescheduled to return to KL 2 days earlier, and I was initially on econ class, they actually had some stupid remark in their system indicating that she had ‘VOLUNTARILY DOWNGRADED’ from business class to economy class.  We spent 1 1/2 hours trying to fix that stupidity.  I mean come on which psychopath would do such an insane thing.  ‘It does happen miss.  You must have indicated to our phone staff when you rescheduled.’ – was their abrupt response.

I wrote THREE ok not 1, not 2 complaint letters because of this whole incident.  No reimbursements.  The lady who called to inform us of the delay was a total bitch.  No replies to my letters.  Come on and you brand your airline as Malaysian Hospitality (MH – all Malaysian Airlines flights goes by the numbering convention MHXXX)…again my foot!

Today, I finally had the time to check my Enrich points online.  Ok, so they only credited 2800 points to my frequent flyer points instead of 6000.  Feeling already a bit pissed that they must have overlooked, I called them to clarify just to hear- sorry Mam, your ticket purchased initally was on class Q (economy) so we can’t give you business class points.  What? I said BUT MY BUSINESS CLASS TICKET SHOWS I AM A CLASS C AFTER UPGRADING, SO SHOULDN’T I BE GETTING THE 6000 POINTS?

‘No mam cause your ticket purchased originally is a class Q and not the business class  You can’t claim for business class if you used your enrich points to upgrade your self’

‘No I did not use my points.  I PAID AUD 950’

‘Ok mam, but you still can only claim economy class points which is 2800 points.’

‘Then I paid the AUD950 for what?!?’

‘No mam, this is our policy, I can’t help you!’

‘Ok my second question is.  How come there has been no response to my complaint letters.  I wrote 3 letters via email but I have got no response till now?’

‘Sorry mam, we are ENRICH AND NOT MAS- I can’t help you on this, but i will pass you to our customer hotline for MAS’

‘Please make sure your line does not cut off cause that’s exactly what happened in the past few times I tried to call in’

‘Sure mam.  Once second.  toot toot toot.’ Line gets cut off!  (I later found out their this Malaysian Hell (MH) airlines customer service only works weekdays 9-5.

WTF.  I am so tempted to scold some profanities, but I shall remain my composure.

HOW CAN AN AIRLINE THAT HAS CLAIMED TO WIN SO GODDAMN MANY INTERNATIONAL AWARDS PROVIDE SUCH SERVICES.  On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate them a -2.

Can anyone out there enlighted me if there’s such a airline policy or if this policy is being practiced by other carriers.  I mean how can one pay a whopping close to RM3000 to upgrade but gets no additional frequent flyer points?

I can’t believe that I have a blog category specially dedicated to the extremely awful service of Malaysian Airlines.  It really brings out the other side of me!

AS AT 11.40 PM, I AM SUPPOSED TO BE IN BED RESTING BECAUSE OF MY HORRID FLU BUT I AM NO.  MY FRIEND FU HAS JUST SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE THE MATTER TO THE TRIBUNAL COURT FOR CONSUMERS SINCE MAS IS NOT RESPONDING TO MY REPEATED COMPLAINTS AND FOREVER GIVING UNJUSTIFIABLE EXCUSES AND NO PROPER EXPLANATIONS.  I AM CURRENTLY RESEARCHING ON HOW TO BRING THE MATTER TO THE TRIBUNAL COURT AND WHAT MY CHANCES ARE AGAINST THEM. GOING THROUGH THE MALAYSIAN AIRLINES ‘GENERAL CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE’ TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

Petrol Price Hike June 5, 2008

With the new petrol increase of 78 cents to RM2.70….

I now STILL pay an average of RM160 per month on petrol, considering my intensive travelling overseas for work.  With the new hike, I will pay 224.99 to get the same 83.3 litres.  So that means in a month, I will pay an additional RM64.99 (*12 = RM779.88 in a year)!  PK la like this! And cause my CIVIC is a 2000cc car, I am not entitled to the RM625 rebate offered by the government.  There goes 1/2 a Coach bag….I demand a pay rise too like this!  And why is the government comparing us, an oil exporting country to our neighbours like Singapore, Thailand & Indo.  Want also compare lah the price of petrol to other countries exporting oil such as United Arab Emirates (UAE) where the price is RM1.19 per litre, Egypt (RM1.03), Kuwait (67sen), Saudi Arabia (38sen), Nigeria (32sen) and Venezuela (16sen).  Absurd!

And I got this in the email. Going to try this the next time I am back from Singapore and refilling my tank. TIPS on filling fuel in yur vehicles compiled by some dude called Ramesh Patel..

Tips on Filling your Vehicles…

This is a Message received from a friend:

I don’t know what you guys are paying for petrol… but here in Durban, we are also paying higher, up to 47.35 per litre. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money’s worth for every litre.

Here at the Marian Hill Pipeline, where I work in Durban, we deliver about 4 million litres in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.

One day is diesel; the next day is jet fuel, and petrol, LRP and Unleaded. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 litres.

ONLY BUY OR FILL UP YOUR CAR OR BIKKIE IN THE EARLY MORNING WHEN THE GROUND TEMPERATURE IS STILL COLD. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground, the denser the fuel, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening…. your litre is not exactly a litre.

In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products play an important role. A 1degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

WHEN YOU’RE FILLING UP, DO NOT SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER OF THE NOZZLE TO A FAST MODE. If you look, you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low,

middle, and high. In slow mode, you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created, while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you’re getting less worth for your money.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TIPS IS TO FILL UP WHEN YOUR TANK IS HALF FULL. The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank, the less air occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.

Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated, so that every litre is actually the exact amount.

ANOTHER REMINDER, IF THERE IS A FUEL TRUCK PUMPING INTO THE STORAGE TANKS, WHEN YOU STOP TO BUY, DO NOT FILL UP – most likely the petrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Hope, this will help you get the maximum value for your money.

DO SHARE THESE TIPS WITH OTHERS! LET’S SHARE INFORMATION AND BENEFIT ALL, FOR THE BETTER OF MANKIND.

Bye bye iPod May 26, 2008

RIP Ipod

D.O.B:  Can’t remember ..approximately 1 1/2 years ago

Death: April 12, 2008 on the way to Manila

Was at the MAC shop in 1U last night to collect my dead iPod with my 2 friends.  But to my surprise, this was what the MAC fler told me – ‘ sometimes the ipod a bit crazy one, try to charge it once in a while when you’re free, it may just work again.  But for now the hard disk really cannot work already..’  3 of us were scratching our heads……so to bury it or to try to revive it once in a while and hope for miracle.  Was also so tempted to get the iPod touch, but then again…no la, then I will have no money for my Coach bag when I go to HK for the summer sales cum meeting. Ha ha…sigh…girls and their material stuff….

……………………..

Went to watch ‘What Happens in Vegas’ last night.  I can relate to Cameron Diaz’s character in the movie.  Only 5 words to describe the movie – predictable plot but bloody hilarious!

……………………………………………….

Logged on to MAS website in the late evening to check out their $0 sales.  Yes, yes call me a hypocrite…cause of all the bitching I have posted on my blog on their absolutely disgraceful service.  Tempted to backpack alone to Siam Reap or Hanoi (something I’ve wanted to do for a while now) during the Deepavali hols in October, the only free slot in my absolutely packed job schedule….return flight costs almost RM500.  Not sure if it’s a good deal or if I’m game to travel alone.

Sh*t As* Day May 16, 2008

This post is about negativity.

What happened?

1) Of my 4 years working, this has got to be the most, and yes, the shittiest day I had ever.  It’s not an exaggeration.

2) At the bar last night in Ipoh, coming out from the bathroom, my drunk acquaintance was coming into the toilet.  and ‘BANG’ there goes my poor finger!  Swelled like nobody’s business today

3) 肥仔 (‘fei jai’) bought me 7 CDs today with my favourite songs.  I can’t listen to them yet cause obviously my stupid car player has not been fixed and even my laptop Cd-rom its not being itself.  Can’t detect any CD’s AT ALL!!!

4) And u know what’s the worst of the lot?  I went to the local mamak for supper.  Of course I asked for my favourite ‘papadums’ which is a MUST.  ‘Sorry..u know all our papadums come from India right?  We have a few suppliers that said there would be no papadums stock for at least 6 months….!’ WTF…it’s months ok not DAYS!  This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I heard all day.  Did papadum makers go on a strike in India asking for a payrise or cease production? is there a papadum union?

5) Frank, my Chinese friend in Shanghai, updated me on the earth quake situation and death toll in China.  It’s really sadenning to think that here we are worrying about financial, relationships..but at least an entire generation of ppl have been wiped out there.  My heart goes out to them.

Well, I did one good thing today.  I donated some money to the Myanmar flood victims through UNICEF.

Another let down by Malaysian Airlines. April 26, 2008

MH for Malaysia Hospitality wor..! My foot!

Yet another disappointment.

Not only have they not responded to my REPEATED complaint letters sent 1 month ago after my horrid 13 hr delay from Brisbane, today I turned up at Ninoy Aquino Airport just to realize that my flight back from Manila on MH 705 was delayed another 1 hr 15 minutes due to some change in aircraft.  How come never tell us? Even Air Asia sends us sms-es for delays.  MAS’ service is getting more absurd day by day!

On the plane, I requested for Pepsi with ICE…the stewardess repeated after me..with ICE.  But not even 30 seconds passed.  She gave me a cup of PEPSI without the ICE.  Errghh..is it the problem with my speech or her hearing abilities.

Malaysian hospitality really my arse.  Malaysia hostility got lah!

Malaysian Airlines Sucks! March 21, 2008

This is my second post again today, why because I am so pissed – and hence will write my first complaint.  I am meant to fly out with MAS on MH 140 tonight at 11.55pm from Brisbane BUT due to some silly technical error, we have to fly out tomorrow at 11.30am.  That is like a 12 hr delay.  And the bloody rude MAS staff in Australia said – no compensation, nothing, nada, nil because they are still flying us out tomorrow and arriving tomorrow.  WTF- not even an apology??  Not even a dinner voucher?  This is absolutely ridiculous!  The rude staff asked me to check if I have bought travel insurance and claim from them.

Ok, at least I have time to update my blog a little bit.  And have another good night’s rest before Angeline’s birthday bash tomorrow.

A blue tongued lizard I saw in Aunt Wan’s garden in Brisbane.  Anttyk, another species of your friends.

And maybe I have a little bit more time to play with my god daughter! I’m beginning to like her and I think kids in general so much I think I don’t even mind adopting a child to care for if I don’t get married – be a single mom lor.  Very common nowadays right!
